May 3, 2010 Dear FPBS Customer, It's Springtime and Five Points Bottle's got the fever! There is so much going on in Athens, GA right now it's hard to keep up! We just wanted to give you a heads up on our upcoming events for May. WEDNESDAY MAY 5th: Bourbon Tasting at Aromas 6pm
The first in a three part whiskey series, this tasting will focus on Kentucky Bourbon. We'll be sampling Ridgemont 1792, Elijah Craig 12 year, Jefferson's, Michter's Rye, Four Roses Single Barrel, and Pappy Van Winkle 12 year. These are some fabulous bottles, so whether you're a Bourbon aficionado or a novice...this will be a memorable experience. The cost is only $25 and will include appetizers. Something fun to try.... Frozen Guava Margaritas Ingredients: 1/2 cup fresh lime juice lime wedges for garnish and making the salt rim if desired 3/4 cup to 1 cup silver tequila margarita salt (optional) ice cubes 3 Tablespoons of triple sec or orange liqueur 3 Tablespoons of Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until the sugar dissolves then cooled to make a syrup) 1 cup Guava Nectar (find Jumex on the Latin American foods aisle in the grocery store) Directions: Run the lime wedge around the rim of the margarita glass and immediately dip into the salt turning the glass a bit to coat the edge; place the glasses in the freezer In a blender combine the ice, lime juice, triple sec, tequila, simple syrup, and guava nectar Blend until smooth and the ice cubes are crushed. Pour into the frozen glasses and garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy! (makes 4 drinks)
THURSDAY MAY 6th: 15 wines for $15 at the Winery
Join us this Thursday from 6-8pm for another fun-filled wine tasting co-hosted by Five Points Bottle, Empire Distributors, and our good pals over at the Winery on East Broad Street. We will be tasting 15 different wines and enjoying light hors d'oeuvres provided by one of our favorite little spots, the European Deli! The cost is only $15 per person. Ever wondered how to make all those delicious martinis, margaritas, and mixed drinks you see in magazines, restaraunts, and on TV? You can really wow your guests by including seasonal fruit and fresh herbs in your mixed drinks! Let the talented staff at Aromas show you how! Join us from 7-9pm on May 29th at Five Points Bottle Shop's bar Aromas on South Milledge for a cocktail making demonstration. Don't worry we'll be sampling the finished product as well ;) There will be a lovely array of hors d'oeuvres to compliment the drinks and Heather will be sending you home with recipe cards and an extra little surprise.
